Still not sure why you need a website?

Your website is the central hub of all your online activity.

It’s your very own Rome; all your online roads lead there.

Your social media profiles should be like spokes, bringing quality traffic to your website.

Your email list sign-up should be on your website.

Your email newsletters should point people to content on your website.

Your blog should be there.

It should be on your business cards and on your lips when you’re telling people where to check you out.

You own your website (well, technically you rent it…) which means you control what gets viewed on it; your content won’t be missed because of a change in algorithms, or pushed out of view by sponsored posts.

Don’t underestimate the value it can bring to your business, if used right.

Equally, don’t overdevelop it; you don’t need an all-singing-all-dancing site from the get go.

Keep it simple. Keep it clean. Keep it functional.

Above all, remember;

The main reason for your website is to provide value and utilty to the visitor – not to you.

Don’t expect the visitor to go searching through pages of submenus to find what they want.

Make it easy for them.

The fewer clicks they need to make, the less they have to think for themselves, the more likely they’ll interact how you want them too.

Equally, don’t overwhelm them with too much choice; too many links, too many pages, too many menus and they’ll probably just close your site and go onto Facebook.

Keep it simple. Keep it clean. Keep it functional.

Above all, remember;

The main reason for your website is to provide value and utility to the visitor - not to you

(yes, you did read that twice – because it is so important, I didn’t want you to miss it!)
